Project Details

Scope Contracted by JGC to provide detail design of the new D2700 lid posting station to allow them to manufacture and install the posting station on the Dounreay site. The scope of work was identified in a technical specification and involved taking their proposed scheme design through to full detail design with deliverables identified as detail drawings, calculations, design risk assessment, substantiation report, FAT document, SAT document, O & M Manual, FMEA/ARM report. During the design process of the project Envision offered an alternative drive mechanism for the posting station than that shown in the scheme design. The proposal for the new drive mechanism replaced a complicated pneumatic hose/ram system with a specialist electric chain drive. The client chose to go ahead with our proposal of the chain drive as it offered a more innovative solution and de-risked the project where concerns had been raised over complicated hose management.

Deliverables

All work was carried out in accordance with our certified quality management system in accordance with ISO9001:2015 and subject to thorough internal checking prior to submission for client review. Design of the system was carried out using Autodesk Inventor to produce 3D model of the system allowing for clash detection and visualization of the new system with existing building services with the added benefit of being compatible with DSRL’s software allowing 3D models to be passed on for future use if required. Finite Element Analysis on support steelwork was carried out using Autodesk Inventor stress analysis to the relevant standards with technical assessment reports produced detailing results.
