Scope Production of a bespoke design for a remote access seal face cleaning tool and debris catcher to allow removal of existing gasket material from the sealing face of the PCTL vessel. This project covered optioneering through to detail design, and Factory Acceptance Testing. The seal face cleaning tool is operated from within a pressurised glove bag to maintain vessel containment and comprised of 6 pneumatic sanding heads all fed from a central supply manifold. A debris catcher hangs free from the underside of the tool head and could be extended/retracted using a lead screw mechanism which was housed within the main stem to allow manual operation from the control level, which was approximately 6 m from the sealing face.
